Russian translation of Jewish Rights, National Rites

I really could not be happier to see and hold the Russian edition of Jewish Rights, National Rights, published by the New Literary Observer in its Historia Rossica Series. The translation, which I would also consider a revised edition, is the product of a tremendous amount of work by a team of editors and translators. Valerii Dymshits oversaw the editing and wrote a wonderful introduction adding a deeper and broader context to the book. I am very thankful and feel very gratified. Note to people writing dissertations: keep a very organized personal archive–you will thank yourself when you need to dig up originals later! You can order here, and also available on kindle here.

DH Jews of Boston site launched

This past semester (fall 2020) I taught our inaugural class of HIST/JST 2430 Digital Histories of Ethnic Boston. Our focus was this history of the Jews of Boston, and how the history of the Jews in the city is intertwined with that of other groups, but especially African Americans. Students alternated learning techniques and tools in the digital humanities and learning–through reading and physically exploring–about the history of Boston’s Jewish communities. Their collaborative projects are on the newly launched https://dhjewsofboston.northeastern.edu and are a resource for anyone interested in the history of the Jewish experience in Boston.
